Engage Your Faith
Beyond worship there are a lot of ways that Christians engage and deepen our faith. In study groups and outreach programs, we are able to reflect on the teachings of Jesus and live them out. Discussions in Bible study and working side by side on a service project are also great ways to get to know other folks at VLM. There are also lots of practical ways to get involved in “making church happen,” whether it’s helping host a potluck or working on the building and grounds.
Our ministries are led by lay people, in collaboration with our pastor. These lay leaders are elected by the congregation and serve for 2-3 year terms. But you don’t have to be elected or even a member to get involved with the work of these ministries! Some ministry committees meet every month, and anyone is welcome to join in the conversation and planning. The discussions at these meetings are where new ideas for ministry are hatched!
Check out the calendar or the most recent newsletter to see when things are happening. Or, view the current roster of our elected & appointed lay leaders. That will tell you who to contact about a particular committee.
Many of our lay leaders are part of our General Board, which governs the congregation and sets policy. Our bylaws explain how we are structured. You may view them here.
